OLD JUNK DRAWER
© by David Llewellyn & Tom Lenartz
I told her, you take all you want, and I'll sort through the rest
So she came by on Friday, now I'm packing up what's left
But I'm pretty much done here, there isn't that much more
Just a few things in the closets, and some old junk in a drawer
Okay, so what we got here, just some faded valentines
And an San Diego Tribune from the day John Lennon died
And a photo of two lovers, who had sworn "Forever more…"
It's sad the things you come across, in an old junk drawer
Here's the string of pearls I gave her, that hot night in New Orleans
In the crazy light of Mardi Gras, they seemed more than plastic beads
They're all tangled with those spare keys, that fit her Dad's old truck
Oh we'd take it without asking, and fog those windows up
And stuck down in a corner is a sign with just three words
From our honeymoon hotel room, it just says "Do Not Disturb"
But that's just what it's doing, and Lord I can't ignore
The hell I'm going through, going through this old junk drawer
Bridge
But there ain't nothing here worth a single dime
So why can't I just leave it all behind
Like she did, when she turned away, and walked right out that door
Leaving all that's left of us, in this old junk drawer
I told her, you take all you want, and I'll sort through the rest
So she came by on Friday, now I'm packing up what's left
But I'm pretty much done here, there isn't that much more
Just a few things in the closets, and some old junk in a drawer
